Statement of the Governing Board of the European Humanities University regarding developments at the Central European University

The Governing Board of the European Humanities University in Vilnius adopted the following public statement of support to the academic community of the Central European University in Budapest.

The Governing Board of the European Humanities University, Belarusian University-in-exile in Vilnius, stands in solidarity with the members of the academic community of the Central European University in Budapest.

We are closely following the recent developments in regards to the proposed legislative changes, deliberately aimed at making up a contrive pretext for politically-biased burdening of the operations of the Central European University, one of the Europe’s best private Universities.

Having experienced European Humanities University’s forced cease of operations in Minsk in 2004 and re-establishing our University in Vilnius, we are fully aware of the potential outcomes of the current developments, undertaken by Hungarian authorities.

We assure you, academic community of the Central European University, can fully rely on the support and assistance of the European Humanities University.
