Legacy of Roland Barthes discussed in the new issue of Topos journal

The European Humanities University announces a publication of the new issue of the Topos journal (1-2, 2019). The topic of the issue is “The Time of/for Roland Barthes” (edited by Prof. Almira Ousmanova and Assoc. Prof. Veranika Furs).

Publication of the issue has been preceded by a number of events in Minsk and Vilnius, dedicated to the centennial since the birth of Roland Barthes, widely celebrated in 2015. These events — two conferences, public lectures, exhibition “Roland Barthes: Mots-clés/Keywords/Ключевые слова” were organized by EHU Laboratory for Studies of Visual Culture and Contemporary Art and supported by the French Institute in Lithuania and the Embassy of France in Belarus.

Among authors of the new issue of the Topos journal — researchers from France, Great Britain, Belarus, Lithuania, and Russia, including renowned French director and writer, EHU Doctor Honoris Causa Alain Fleischer, British curator and founder of the Journal of Visual Culture Dr. Marquard Smith, former Director of Cinémathèque Française and former Head of Development Unit at the Centre Pompidou Dominique Païni.
