Kseniya Shtalenkova presented a paper at the International Conference, hosted by the National Bank of Belarus

On October 14, Kseniya Shtalenkova, PhD student and assistant lecturer of the European Humanities University (EHU) Academic Department of Humanities and Arts, presented a paper during the plenary session of the 9th International Numismatics Conference at the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk.

The 9th International Numismatics Conference was held by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus on October 14-16 in Minsk. The conference is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Belarusian rouble, officially established in Belarus as a national currency in 1994. The plenary session of the conference was opened with a report “Image Transformations of Belarusian Roubles: The Tasks of the Visual Design of the National Currency” delivered by Kseniya Shtalenkova, who also presented her monograph “Money and Ideology: Hundred Years’ [R]evolution of Belarusian-ness”, published at EHU in 2018 (in Russian, with a summary in English), to the Money Museum of the National Bank of Belarus.

The International Numismatics Conference is a major event in the field of money studies in Central and Eastern Europe and is held by the National Bank of Belarus in Minsk since 2003. This year the conference gathered about 60 participants from Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine and Belarus, the representatives of museums and central banks, as well as leading scholars in numismatics, money circulation, banking and contemporary coinage among them.
