“EU4Belarus Support for Advanced Learning and Training” meeting was held at EHU

On March 9, the education coordination meeting “EU4Belarus Support for Advanced Learning and Training” was held at the European Humanities University.

The aim of the meeting was to review ongoing assistance to students, academics and professionals from Belarus, to promote coordination among the different stakeholders to align interventions, and to identify opportunities for joint actions to be developed and funded.

Representatives of the organizations, providing support to Belarusian students and scholars, Belarusian educational initiatives have gathered together to discuss the scholarships opportunities available for Belarusians, the assistance to the repressed scholars, the demands and opportunities for distance learning, stipends for professional training and further steps that are needed to be undertaken.

EHU faculty and administration members presented the distance learning opportunities provided by EHU and shared the results of the ongoing work intended to support the scholars who suffered from the Belarusian authoritarian regime as well as discussed the challenges that have to be overcome for the future support to be provided.

The following key areas for further improvement have been mentioned by Head of Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to Belarus Berend de Groot in the final part of the meeting:

  • The availability of the information on available programs and funding from one resource;
  • The possibility to have the research fund and fellowship programs;
  • The importance of learning of English language for the smoother process of integration of scholars;
  • Quality assurance and further development of distance learning.
