Starting from August 9, 35 graduates, 9 students of EHU, and 30 000 more peaceful Belarusians were detained. Currently, Mikalai remains under arrest, according to the accusations, he may be charged with up to 3 years of imprisonment.
We call on graduates, members of EHU community and partners to send a support letter to Mikalai via posting address: Detention Center No. 1, 2 Valadarskaha Str., 220030 Minsk, Belarus (recipient: Mikalai Dziadok).
Earlier two more students of the International Law and European Union Law program, Maryja Rabkova and Akihiro Gaevski were recognized as political prisoners. EHU community expresses its concern about all illegally detained and arrested. We call on Belarusian authorities to release Mikalai Dziadok, Maryja Rabkova, Akihiro Gaevski and all unlawfully persecuted as well as to reinstall their full civil rights.
EHU is closely following ongoing developments in Belarus and reminds about own readiness to provide assistance to those students, who are oppressed by Belarusian authorities. Thanks to financial assistance of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, 46 citizens of Belarus were already able to continue studies at the Belarusian University in Vilnius.
