Workshop ‘Virtual Community and Psychological Resilience’

On May 14 at 3 PM, the European Humanities University Department of Humanities and Arts together with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems hosts a workshop ‘Virtual Community and Psychological Resilience’ with Dr. Greer Burroughs, International Civic Education Consultant and Assistant Professor of Education.

During the workshop, Dr. Burroughs will discuss with participants how political and social events of the last year have impacted their lives, how to become action-oriented in solving problems and addressing these issues, as well as how to develop effective communication skills and psychological resilience.

The language of the event is English. The meeting will be moderated by Natalya Mikhailova.

Greer Burroughs is an Assistant Professor at The College of New Jersey in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She received her doctorate degree in Social Studies Education in 2010 from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, with her dissertation research focusing on effective civic education practices to engage youth from historically marginalized communities.

Over the last decade, Dr. Burroughs work in work in emerging democracies includes the development of university-level civic education courses in Georgia, Ukraine, and Armenia, training course professors on interactive teaching methods, and working with students on civic engagement initiatives. Dr. Burroughs has authored several evaluation reports for IFES on the success of these programs and other works of hers appear in publications such as the Journal of Teacher Education.
