We support the consolidated position of the democratic world against the violent scenario that Russia is still exploiting in 2022, hiding behind its “national” and “denazification” agendas, flagrantly, cruelly and inhumanly using its military capabilities to strike at the sovereign state of Ukraine, as a result of which the damage will be inflicted upon the cities of Ukraine, including its capital Kiev, its infrastructure, and, inconceivably, upon civilians, children, unarmed and innocent people who woke up today, February 24, 2022, to the sounds of sirens and explosions.
It is unimaginable that in the 21st century geopolitical interests could be valued higher than human life, and it is unimaginable to neglect Human Rights for the sake of satisfying political ambitions.
As a Belarusian university in exile, we strongly condemn the drawing of the Belarusian people into Russian aggression.
We know that the situation of political tension in the region has been heating up for a long time and we are aware that the rest of the world will not remain indifferent to the aggressive rhetoric of Russia, its authorities and president Putin in this catastrophic conflict for the entire continent.
We call for unifying and strengthening diplomatic efforts and mechanisms to resolve the conflict, as there is nothing more important than human lives.
We call on our colleagues and partners in Russia, Europe, the United States and the rest of the civilized world to use all possible legal measures to prevent the escalation of the situation, to increase publicity and voice disagreement with the actions of the authorities that represent Russian citizens. We believe that Russians respect the sovereignty of neighboring independent states and oppose bloodshed and the extermination of civilians.
The European Humanities University expresses support to Ukraine.
We are convinced that the people of Ukraine will be free. Glory to Ukraine!
