The first visual design almanac by EHU now available online

The Department of Humanities and Arts has presented the digital version of the first Visual Design Almanac – a collection showcasing the best graduation projects by students of the Visual Design program from 2022 to 2024.

Back in spring 2025, following the release of the printed edition, the team faced a new challenge – how to make the publication accessible to a wider audience. Boris Dmitriev, the almanac’s curator, together with fourth-year Visual Design student Alesia Sanko, prepared the PDF version of the book.

This project became an important milestone for the program, bringing together students and faculty members. The almanac features projects from all three program specializations — graphic design, web design, and animation. Fourth-year students were responsible for curating the content and designing the layout, while faculty members acted as mentors throughout the process. The publication highlights the students’ professional development and showcases the diversity of topics and creative approaches in their final projects.

“We wanted to bring student works together in one space,” says Boris Dmitriev, lecturer in the Editorial Design course and project curator. “It was a real challenge to create a 160-page publication remotely while maintaining coherence and visual quality. That’s why it’s so rewarding to see the final result come together as something cohesive, vivid, and professional.”

The almanac is not only a showcase of graduation projects but also a hands-on publishing experience for students — from layout development to collaboration with printing houses. The printed edition received an ISBN and was published in a limited run. Now, the digital version is available to everyone interested in contemporary design and student-led initiatives.

The project will continue to grow: within the Editorial Design course, a new almanac is planned, expanding its scope and evolving into a regular publication. It will become a platform for presenting student works and a source of inspiration for future designers.
