International seminar on Jewish studies was held a EHU

On January 31, Department for the Humanities and Arts of the European Humanities University (EHU) launched a seminar on Jewish studies. The seminar gathered representatives of academic institutions and educational establishments from Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Latvia, and the U.S., as well as Belarus, including EHU faculty. EHU students, particularly EHU Master students, expressed their interest to the event.

The participants of the seminar discussed the current state of Jewish studies and academic publishing in the sphere in Eastern Europe. The issue of the Jewish heritage and its conservation in Central and Eastern Europe had a ranking place in the seminar’s agenda. The participants also discussed plans and prospects of EHU Center for Jewish Studies and publishing of the annual Tsaytshrift / Časopis, which will be renewed this year. The organizers intend to hold such a workshop annually.
