The European Humanities University (EHU) expresses gratitude to the European Union for the decision to provide additional funds to the EHU to continue ensuring long-term opportunities for Belarusian youth.

At the beginning of the Academic Year 2021/2022  EHU community is thankful to the European Union for being able to continue providing an international educational experience, tuition waivers, discounts, and scholarships for 811 students of EHU. The funds, additionally allocated to the EHU are more than EUR 0.5 million. This support allowed EHU to found the Law and Democracy Center which was launched under a strong call to strengthen collective efforts using legal means for restoring justice for victims of human rights violations in Belarus – the EHU Justice Hub. The faculty members, staff and the academic community of the University strive to provide students with high-quality modern knowledge within the framework and values of the European higher education standards and the liberal arts model.

All this would have been impossible without targeted, sustainable  and consistent support from the European Union. During the academic year 2021/2022, dozens of students from Belarus expressed their interest and were transferred to EHU. 96 Belarusian students have been transferred to EHU since 2020 by the current time.  18 Belarusian scholars were provided fellowships at EHU.

The University continues negotiations with international partners to expand the funding provided. A positive decision will ensure that  even more students and researchers who have been repressed by Belarusian authorities will be able to continue their studies at EHU.
