The Vis Moot is an international law competition, aimed at developing students’ legal skills in the sphere of commercial law and business arbitration. That is done by practicing in an environment close to real-life legal work: doing legal research, composing memorandums, and participating in mock hearings.
EHU Vis Moot Team of four students – Anastasiya Aksenova, Vera Belchykava, Alina Evstratikova, and Ulyana Belaya – and their coach, Maryia Zharyluoskaya, was kindly supported by CLDP (U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Programme) to travel to Astana and spend a fruitful week there.
The Pre-Moot was organized by International Arbitration Center (IAC) which is recognized as the hub for arbitration in Eurasia.
The program included the following:
- Practicing with different teams from different universities;
- Attending lectures of legal experts and practicing lawyers from all over the world;
- Having several pleadings and receiving comments from experienced arbitrators;
- Improving legal arguments and oral presentations.
Our team also managed to visit White&Case, a world-famous legal firm office in Astana, as well as get to know students from multiple Central Asia universities.
This was a week of miscellaneous practice, and EHU Vis Team is looking forward to the main competition in Vienna, April 1-6.
