Registration for the mini-course “From Document to History: Contemporary Practices of Engaging Work with Heritage”

The European Humanities University (programs “European Heritage and Creative Tourism” and “Cultural Heritage Development”), the online project “Da”, ANU – Museum of the Jewish People, the digital archive J-Doc, and the electronic ego-documents archive Zemelakh invite you to take part in the elective mini-course “From Document to History: Contemporary Practices of Engaging Work with Heritage.”

The course is intended for undergraduate and graduate students of EHU, but is also open to enrollee students and anyone interested in contemporary approaches to cultural heritage work. Lectures and seminars will be held online. Participation is free with prior registration.

The course focuses on storytelling based on archival materials and personal testimonies as a tool for understanding and conveying historical experience. We will explore how to create meaningful and relevant narratives that resonate with a broad audience. The course includes lectures and seminars where participants will gain practical skills in working with archival and ego-documents.

Those who complete the course will receive a certificate, which may be included in a portfolio when applying for a tuition grant (also relevant for enrollee students).
For young researchers affiliated with EHU, a monetary award is offered for successfully completing the course and writing the best final essay. Eligibility requirements: be an EHU student, attend all course sessions, complete a practical assignment describing an archival document, and write a final essay using materials from the Zemelakh project. The selection committee will choose one or two of the best essays, and the winners will receive a prize of €250–500.
