Vis Moot is the most prestigious moot competition for law students to foster the study and practice of international commercial sales law and arbitration.
EHU Vis Moot team of four students – Anastasiya Aksenova, Vera Belchykava, Alina Evstratikova, and Ulyana Belaya, was supported by CLDP (U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Programme) to travel to Vienna and take part in the competition.
The 30th Vis Moot attracted more than 2500 students representing 378 teams from around 90 jurisdictions, along with 1100 practitioners. In Vienna, EHU team demonstrated excellent oral advocacy at four general rounds and were honored to moot against teams from the USA, UAE, India and China.
During 7 months, a lot of preparation has been done, many skills have been mastered and many impressions have been received by EHU students. This could not have been possible without the endless support of the team’s coaches: Vivi Mendez, experienced commercial lawyer working as an Associate at White & Case Firm (New York); Caitlin Walczyk, experienced commercial lawyer working as a Law Clerk at White & Case Firm (Washington DC); Aliaksei Vashkevich, experienced commercial lawyer working as an Associate at Sorainen Law Firm (Vilnius); Maryia Zharylouskaya, former experienced Belarusian business lawyer, EHU lecturer and coordinator of Academic Department of Social Sciences; and Andrei Belakhvost, former experienced Belarusian advocate.
We are especially grateful for the continued generous support of CLDP (U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Programme), which makes it possible for our team to participate in the competition and get a unique learning experience from outstanding experts during the preparation.
