This seminar aims to examine how the decolonization debate sparked by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine affects our understanding of the history of the lands of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth annexed by the Russian Empire in the late 18th century, with a particular focus on former territories of the Great Duchy of Lithuania and the Right-Bank Ukraine.
The one-day seminar will be hosted by the European Humanities University and will bring together scholars from Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, and Germany interested in the comparative and interdisciplinary history of Russian imperial rule during the long 19th century.
The seminar will take place at EHU in a hybrid format on 14th February 2024.
