International Conference to Explore Decolonization in Education and Research in Belarus and Ukraine

An upcoming international conference titled “The Decolonization of Education and Research in Belarus and Ukraine: Theoretical Challenges and Practical Tasks” is set to take place in Vilnius from September 28 to 30.

This event aims to foster interdisciplinary discussions on decolonization within the context of Belarusian and Ukrainian societies and is jointly organized by:

  • European Humanities University (Vilnius, Lithuania)
  • Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv, Ukraine)
  • Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic)

The conference will delve into both theoretical explorations and practical strategies for implementing decolonization in education and humanistic and social science research.

Distinguished scholars, experts, and practitioners from diverse fields will convene to address various pertinent topics, including the results and lessons from postcolonial research in Belarus and Ukraine, the role of universities as drivers of decolonization, and the challenges of decolonization intersecting with nation-building and Europeanization.

A multitude of engaging sessions are planned, featuring discussions, thematic panels, and working groups.

The working languages of the conference will be Belarusian, English, and Ukrainian, facilitating a broad exchange of ideas.

One of the highlights of the event is the anticipated special issue of the journal Topos, which will be based on the proceedings of the conference. This promises to provide an enduring platform for the dissemination of research and insights generated during the event.

After the conference, video recordings of the plenary sessions will be published on the EHU YouTube channel.
