The goal of the event is to foster an interdisciplinary discussion around cultural heritage by investigating understandings of culture created by people currently experiencing migration; because we believe that voices of those people are systematically excluded from heritage studies and we would like to explore the ways of inclusion by the intersection of heritage and migration studies.
Aiming at crossing traditional disciplinary boundaries, the encounter will gather experts and practitioners of heritage and migration studies, as well as artists who reflect on the experience of migration and the feeling of belonging in their artworks.
Format
The session will take place on 4 May over 1 working day. The format is the following: invited experts work hand by hand with students and artists, searching for answers for such questions as
- Do new heritage practicies become “another identity”, complement or coexist with the original identity? What are the practices that facilitate the process of existing in between different heritage fields?
- How does heritage work in the context of migration? How can an individual transfer heritage with him/her/them? Is it possible to give equal place for different heritage practicies if a new person is expected to be assimilated?
To participate, please, fill in the form.
Deadline is 28 April 2023.
The number of places is limited. The results of the application, program and information about the place will be announced by 1 May.
