This book delves into the participation of Belarusians in the regular formations of the Polish Army during the Polish-Soviet War, the interwar period, World War II, and its aftermath. Based on original sources from archives in Belarus, Great Britain, Canada, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, and other countries, the work sheds light on one of the most tragic periods in Belarusian-Polish history, highlighting the fraternal bond between the two nations.
The author explores the attitudes of Polish citizens of Belarusian origin towards their military service, Polish policies towards Belarusians, and their involvement in battles. The book also chronicles their fates after the war, paying tribute to the thousands of Belarusians who fought in Polish uniforms but were later rejected and forgotten in their homeland.
Professor Yuri Gribovsky is the author of over 260 scholarly publications, including 11 monographs, and is the recipient of numerous prestigious Polish and international awards and scholarships. His research focuses on Polish-Belarusian relations, the Belarusian independence movement, political and religious emigration, and 20th-century Belarus. He is also a specialist in the history of the Orthodox Church in Belarus, Lithuania, and Poland.
The moderator will be Associate Professor Stepan Zakharkevich, a lecturer in the Department of Humanities and Arts.
