The evaluations focused on two major fields: Humanities and Social Sciences. In both areas, EHU demonstrated its commitment to research excellence and improvement of management and implementation of research activities. The evaluations were carried out on a scale of 1 to 5, with 3 being rated as “Good” indicating strong performance with limited international recognition.

- Development Potential of R&D Activities: 3 out of 5
Social Sciences:

These evaluations reflect the institution’s dedication to maintaining high research standards while focusing on positive societal impacts. Furthermore, they acknowledge the significant progress made since 2018 in improving research management principles and enhancing the overall research landscape at EHU.
The implications of these positive evaluations extend beyond institutional prestige. According to national research quality regulations, 60 percent of annual research activity development funding provided by the Ministry of Education over the next five years will be based on the results of this qualitative evaluation. This demonstrates the pivotal role that research quality plays in securing financial support for EHU’s ongoing research endeavors.
“While there is still work to be done in raising awareness about the significance of academic research activities among our faculty, these results are a testament to the transformative journey EHU has undertaken,” said Vilius Šadauskas, Chancellor at EHU. “Compared to the challenges we faced in 2018 when accreditation was jeopardized due to research quality concerns, we have now taken remarkable strides forward. I am confident that our commitment to enhancing research activities will continue to yield positive outcomes.”
These positive evaluations are a reflection of EHU’s dedication to continuous improvement, a commitment that will undoubtedly contribute to further advancements in the institution’s academic and research pursuits.
