EHU Professor delivers a keynote address at the 1st Nordic Belarusian History Dialogue

On January 23, Lund University hosted the first-ever Nordic Belarusian History Dialogue which was organized by Historians without Borders with the support of the Nordic Council of Ministers. Prof. Iryna Ramanva of the European Humanities University Department of Humanities and Arts delivered a keynote lecture “Making of Belarusian Identity” at the roundtable.

Prof. Ramanava’s lecture touched upon the issue of interpretation of historical memory in Belarus through the soon-to-be-launched new obligatory component of the undergraduate curriculum across all Universities in Belarus and on the example of the recent publication of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus — “History of the Belarusian Statehood”.

During the roundtable, historians from Belarus and their Nordic counterparts have also discussed commonalities and differences in the field of historical studies as well as the interrelationship between historiography and historical narrative.
