On behalf of the entire academic community of EHU Prof. Mikhailov expressed sincere gratitude to the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania for its extended political and financial support since EHU’s relocation to Vilnius. This academic year will be marked with the celebration of the 25th anniversary since the establishment of EHU in Minsk and it is a remarkable time for the whole EHU community: the University has successfully implemented the state-of-art Core Curriculum, prepared and presented the institutional self-evaluation report, reorganized its structure in order to raise the efficiency of internal and academic processes.
Prof. Mikhailov informed the Speaker Prof. Pranckietis on the results of 2017 Admission campaign and further directions of the EHU’s development. Prof. Mikhailov highlighted the necessity of further strengthening of teaching and learning in the framework of liberal education for EHU.
“European Humanities University’s mission is of great importance, while EHU is the project that develops the alternative mindset, strengthens the civil society and fosters democratic transformations in Belarus”, said Speaker of the Seimas Prof. Pranckietis.
The Speaker of the Seimas and EHU President agreed on University’s need for further active engagement into the process of transformation of higher education in Lithuania. EHU has accumulated extensive experience in improving its study programs and administrative structure, which can be useful for the development of reforms aimed at improving the system of higher education in Lithuania.
Given the outstanding academic background of the Speaker of the Seimas, Prof. Pranckietis is well acquainted with the history and current state of affairs at EHU. Prof. Pranckietis emphasized that EHU mission is of great importance in the context of the Eastern Partnership program. EHU is one of the finest examples of the full-fledged interaction between Belarusian civil society and the European Union member states.
