EHU leadership, students and staff discussed the state of affairs in the University and shared reflections on the importance of EHU for Belarus. Students presented their own projects, which are dedicated to strengthening of civic society in Belarusian regions, as well as the creative projects, which were developed within the framework of the Bard International Network activities. 1st and 2nd year undergraduate students introduced the results of the educational symposium, which was held in April 2018 in Florence. EHU students, who had prior experience of studying at Belarusian universities, introduced advantages of studying process at EHU, such as critical-thinking-based approach, performativity and interactivity.
The representatives of the European Commission expressed genuine interest to the student presentations and ideas. Along with that, the guests invited EHU students to visit the institutions of the European Union for the purpose of learning the ways of operations of the EU, as well as to participate in internship programs of the EU.
The European Union is the major donor and supporter of EHU. Former President of the European Parliament Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering was awarded EHU Doctor Honoris Causa on November 17, 2017. Former President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek made a personal financial contribution to the support of EHU.
