Prof. Ramanava receives Ales Adamovich Prize of the Belarusian PEN

On June 24, the Belarusian PEN has announced that Prof. Iryna Ramanava of the European Humanities University Department of Humanities and Arts has become the laureate of the Ales Adamovich Prize.

Adamovich Prize is awarded to Prof. Ramanava for her book “Authority and Society: Belarusian SSR in 1929-1939”. The monography depicts unique documents that illustrate the secret aspects of the life in Belarus under Soviet regime.

On June 25 at 3 PM (EET) Belarusian PEN will host an online-ceremony, featuring Natallia Adamovich (Ales Adamovich’s daughter) and EHU Alumna Tatsiana Niadbaj, who is the First Deputy Chair of the Belarusian PEN. Upon presentation of the Prize, Prof. Ramanava will present a lecture “Your authority is not needed: confrontation of peasantry and Bolsheviks in 1937”.

Ales Adamovich Prize was established by Belarusian PEN in January 1995. The goal of the Prize is to highlight the best publication, which addresses the problems of nowadas and commemorates the legacy of one of the finest Belarusian writers and founders of the Belarusian PEN Ales Adamovich.
