PhotoArtDoc’24 Exhibition Finissage: Reflections and Plans for the Future

The European Humanities University hosted the finissage of the PhotoArtDoc’24 exhibition — the final event of the documentary and art photography festival. The meeting brought together photographers, curators, partners, and friends of the project. Among the participants were Rector Vilius Šadauskas, Head of the School of Digital Competencies Dmitry Samal, and representatives of the Lithuanian Press Photographers Club.

The exhibition curators, lecturer of the Department of Humanities and Arts Sergey Mikhalenko and Alena Kushnir, shared their impressions of the project’s implementation, discussed challenges and unexpected situations, conducted a curator-led tour of the exhibition, and answered numerous questions.

The PhotoArtDoc festival was organized by the Belarusian Independent Association of Photographers, with the European Humanities University as its social partner. In 2024, more than 500 people participated in the mentoring, educational, and competition programs of the festival, which covered over 40 countries. According to the organizers, the projects of competition winners are now available on the festival’s website, photoartdoc.com, with information in three languages.

In 2025, the PhotoArtDoc project is set to continue. Some authors will be invited to participate in other exhibition projects, and a series of presentations is planned to introduce the international community to new names and projects from Belarusian photographers.
