Exploring Regional Security and State Recognition: EHU and University of Wroclaw Collaborate

From April 22 to 25, 2025, Dr. Liliana Tymchenko, Associate Professor in the Academic Department of Social Sciences, participated in an Erasmus+ staff mobility at the University of Wroclaw.

This was her first visit, offering an eye-opening experience not only into the academic life of one of the oldest universities in Central and Eastern Europe (founded in 1702), but also into productive exchanges with leading Polish experts in EU regional security and students specializing in international relations, migration policy, and diplomacy.

As an expert in the recognition of states in international law, Dr. Tymchenko shared her insights with scholars and students at the Institute of European Studies, presenting her perspective on the evolving dynamics of state recognition and engaging in lively discussions on this topical issue.

A key outcome of the visit was the establishment of closer cooperation between EHU and the University of Wroclaw. This partnership will open new opportunities for joint research projects, academic exchange, and collaboration—enhancing the educational and professional development of both students and faculty.

Dr. Tymchenko’s experience is a strong example of how Erasmus+ staff mobility contributes not only to individual academic growth but also to the broader internationalization and research goals of our university. Faculty members are encouraged to consider similar opportunities, which foster professional networking, support knowledge transfer, and help strengthen strategic partnerships across Europe.
