EHU Rector’s Perspective on the Importance of Humanities Education in the Technological Age on Lietuvos Rytas TV

On March 23, 2025, during an episode of Reporteris on Lietuvos Rytas TV, European Humanities University Rector Dr. Vilius Šadauskas shared his insights on the growing issue of declining literacy.

“As technology becomes more dominant, the value of humanities education—which is crucial for enabling us to interact, assess our environment, and shape it based on newly developed thought models—is being underestimated,” stated Dr. Vilius Šadauskas.

The Rector emphasized that humanities education should be given more attention, as the interaction between technology and the humanities must be proportional. Overemphasizing technology may lead to a less literate society and a view of science that is solely pragmatic, neglecting its depth and cultural context.
