Dr. Rūta Sutkutė from European Humanities University visited New Bulgarian University under the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching

Dr. Rūta Sutkutė, Associate Professor at the Academic Department of Social Sciences, European Humanities University, visited New Bulgarian University (Republic of Bulgaria) under the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching Programme from May 12 to 16, 2025.

During the visit, she delivered a series of lectures on “The Role of Political Debates in Electoral Campaigns: Impact on Public Discourse and Voter Decision-Making” and “Introduction to Intercultural Communication and the Representation of Lithuanian Culture.” The lectures received very positive feedback from students, particularly the session on Lithuanian culture, which fostered strong interest in academic mobility and encouraged students to consider Erasmus+ opportunities in Lithuania, specifically at the European Humanities University, highlighting the importance of such exchanges.

In addition to teaching activities, Dr. Sutkutė participated in several meetings with institutional and departmental coordinators, including Ms. Ekaterina Brazitsova, Incoming Mobilities Administrator at the Erasmus Office, and Assoc. Prof. Stoyko Petkov from the Department of Media and Communication. These meetings aimed at discussing opportunities for future cooperation in staff and student exchanges, strengthening institutional partnerships, and enhancing mutual understanding of academic priorities.

Additionally, meetings with department members at New Bulgarian University were organized. The primary objective of the Staff Mobility for Teaching was not only to engage in educational activities but also to strengthen and reinforce institutional cooperation, explore possibilities for further collaboration, initiate joint projects under Erasmus+ and other programmes, and exchange best practices to facilitate future academic partnerships. Throughout the visit and teaching activities, Dr. Sutkutė was hosted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Diana Kulchitskaya and Assoc. Prof. Vladislav Dimitrov from the Department of Media and Communication within their courses “Media and Politics” and “Media and Democracy.”

Dr. Sutkutė introduced the European Humanities University, highlighting study exchange opportunities, academic programmes, and ongoing projects. Particular emphasis was placed on the advancement of international exchange and cooperation opportunities for both students and staff of the department at the university. The mobility visit to New Bulgarian University significantly contributed to enhancing her competencies related not only to teaching abroad but also to strengthening professional knowledge and practical skills in political communication and intercultural communication – key areas of her research expertise.
