Chancellery of the Government hosts a diplomatic briefing about EHU

On May 10, the First Deputy Chancellor of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania Deividas Matulionis and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Neris Germanas hosted a briefing for heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Lithuania to discuss topicalities of the recent developments at the European Humanities University (EHU).

During the meeting, the role of the EHU in strengthening Belarusian civil society, in preparing highly qualified professionals in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences, and in promoting entrepreneurship was highlighted. University Rector Prof. Sergei Ignatov has presented EHU Strategy 2019-2024 as well as outcomes of the academic and organization reforms, implemented at EHU in recent years.

First Deputy Chancellor Matulionis assured that Lithuania will remain a reliable supporter of EHU and has informed the participants of the meeting about the Government’s decision to appoint EHU with a status of ”University in Exile”. Vice Minister Germanas has stressed the utmost role of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) in channeling the international donors support to the University and the international solidarity among donors.
