Professor A. Kalbaska Explores EHU’s Exilic Identity at Conference “Politics of Knowledge, Power, and the Struggle for Academic Futures”

Professor of the Department of Humanities and Arts A. Kalbaska presented the topic “European Humanities University in Exile: Phoenix or Whipping Boy?” at the international conference titled “Politics of Knowledge, Power, and the Struggle for Academic Futures”. Conference took place  on June 19-20, 2025, at the University of Cambridge in the UK.

Representatives of various educational institutions from Afghanistan, Britain, Germany, Canada, Lebanon, Lithuania, Muanmar (Burma), Palestine, Syria, and Ethiopia exchanged their accumulated experience in organizing education in exile. The conference emphasized rethinking education as a tool for for new forms of collaboration. Participants explored sustaining intellectual communities in exile, co-producing research, and addressing issues of accountability, sustainability, and structural inequalities in education.
