The presented works were made at the beginning of the war. They reflect pain, fear and loss of humanity in a human.
The exhibition allowed us to take a “step” together with the author and see the horrors of war through the lens of the photographer. The exhibition was not only a reminder of the terrible events, but also clearly demonstrated the devastating consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Serhiy Mykhalchuk is a Ukrainian cinematographer, Honored Art Worker of Ukraine, and was awarded the Order of Merit 3rd Class in 2021. After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Serhiy Mykhalchuk decided to show the terrible everyday life.
“I couldn’t help filming. Not everything I do now I can show, mostly I shoot for the future, but I can influence society through my work. The camera is my weapon in a world of madness”, – Serhiy Mykhalchuk.
The exhibition is curated by students of the European Heritage program.
The exhibition “Step” is available until April 19 at the address: Vilnius, Savičiaus Str. 17, EHU, 2nd floor.
