On February 14 Ambassador of Romania to Lithuania and Latvia H.E. Mr. Dan Adrian Bălănescu accompanied by the Second Secretary at the Romania’s Embassy in Vilnius Mrs. Simona Botezatu paid a visit to the European Humanities University (EHU) and met with President and Acting Rector of the University.

While opening the meeting, University leadership expressed gratitude to Ambassador for arranging a prior visit of State Secretary Daniel Ioniță to EHU in November 2015. EHU President Prof. Anatoli Mikhailov and Acting Rector Jørgen Jørgensen familiarized Ambassador Bălănescu with the current state of affairs at the University and presented advancements in the process in reinforcing EHU internal management system and strategic planning.

Prof. Mikhailov stressed the innovative approach of EHU to liberal arts through University’s newly adopted Core Curriculum, which could be beneficial for the counterparts of EHU in the Central and Eastern Europe, including Romania. During the meeting, Ambassador expressed particular interest in regards to the progress of the International Rector’s Search and University’s expected relocation to the new premises in Vilnius Old Town.

Ambassador Bălănescu has praised the role of EHU in educating young Belarussians and in contributing to the progress of the Belarussian society: “Romania welcomes the educational work of EHU and will look into ways of further supporting its activity. The generations of professional EHU graduates, the majority of whom work in Belarus, are a testimony in itself of the success of this academic project supported by Lithuania and other EU member countries”.
