Strengthening the academic integrity: EHU implements new measures for academic ethics

The European Humanities University (EHU) has recently completed a comprehensive review of its documents on Academic Ethics, conducted by a legal expert, members of the administration, and the Senate. To enhance the participation of the academic community in ensuring that mechanisms of Academic Ethics are effectively functioning within EHU, necessary revisions have been made to key documents—the Code of Academic Ethics and the Code of Conduct. Additionally, the composition of the Commission for Academic Ethics has been expanded.

One significant new element included in the Code of Conduct is designed to expand the possibilities for reporting serious violations of Academic Ethics while maintaining anonymity. The updated provision, section 10.1, states: “Reporting about highly sensitive issues shall be addressed directly to the Rector of EHU. High sensitivity of the issue shall be determined on a case-by-case basis.” Consequently, the Rector will initiate appropriate procedures in his disposal for the case to be investigated.
