Webinar “Are Free-to-Play Games Evil? (Are Loot boxes Bad?)”

On June 2, the Department of Social Sciences of the European Humanities University invites prospective students, students and everyone interested to the webinar “Are Free-to-Play Games Evil? (Are Loot boxes Bad?)”.

Most commercially successful free-to-play games balance on the verge of exploiting the player, although the critical theory struggles to explain where fair play ends and exploitation begins. The labour theory of value (LTV) by Karl Marx can help explain ludic exploitation in games and beyond them. The webinar will be useful to anyone interested in video games and their research.

Speakers of the webinar:

  • Alesha Serada – Ph.D. student at the University of Vaasa. A graduate of EHU;
  • Viktoriya Kanstantsiuk – lecturer of the EHU Bachelor program “Media and Communication”.

NB! The webinar will be held online, on June 2, at 3 PM (Lithuanian time). For participation, please register via the link
