Invitation for EHU students to a study visit to Sapiegų rūmai (Sapieha Palace)

Invitation for EHU students: a series of introductory events about cultural rights with Lithuanian organizations.

We are pleased to announce a series of discussions and workshops that are designed to dive into the topic of cultural rights, its components, role and place in the society. Together with Lithuanian and international experts under the project “Vilnius Heritage as a Space for the Implementation of Cultural Rights” we will investigate the following questions:

  • How to establish “ecological” relationships between cultural groups?
  • How to ensure their right to participate in cultural resource management?
  • How to make cultural heritage sustainable and inclusive?
  • What should the relationship be between rights holders and duty bearers?

The 4th study visit happens to Sapiegų rūmai (Sapieha Palace). The palace, founded at the end of the 17th century, is the work of the most famous architects and artists working in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It lost its original appearance in the XIX century when it was used as a hospital. Based on the principles of the Venice Charter (1964) and other international conservation documents, it was decided to return the Sapieha Palace to the appearance of the 1692 project. Reopened in April 2024, the Sapieha Palace strives to be a vibrant cultural hub in Vilnius.

This is a perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the place, organisation, get to know the details of their work and learn about the possibilities to join the programs. Your participation is highly valued!
