2019 being not only the year of European Parliament elections but also Brexit, commemorates the 25th anniversary of Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s rule in Belarus. Being of the closest neighboring states of the European Union, Belarus remains one of the few countries without any Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union. Despite a non-recognition of the Belarusian Parliamentary election results by the European Parliament, the results of the May 2019 elections may be essential in fostering further dialogue between Brussels and Minsk.
