Grants and portfolio

For talented and gifted students, our University offers a system of grants awarded through a portfolio competition. If you have achievements in academics, creativity, research, or community service, you have a great opportunity to receive a grant and study for free.

The amount and number of grants, as well as the rules for their distribution, depend on available funding and are established by the General Assembly of Partners (GAPO).

How are grants awarded?

Grants are awarded on a competitive basis based on the evaluation of students’ portfolios. The amount and number of grants depend on available funding and are determined by the General Assembly of Partners (GAPO).

Who can receive a grant?

✅ Citizens and permanent residents of Belarus
✅ Citizens of other countries

The main conditions and selection criteria are outlined in the “Grant Distribution Regulations of the European Humanities University” (Appendix 3).

How to compete for a grant?

1️⃣ First-year students recommended for enrollment

📅 Application deadline before the start of the first semester:

  • Immediately after signing the study contract and paying for the first semester, first-year students can apply for the grant competition. To do this, you need to prepare and upload your portfolio, which consists of two parts:

Achievements and/or work samples
These demonstrate your talents and potential. You may include:

  • Olympiad diplomas, awards from competitions and conferences,
  • Participation in research, social, and volunteer projects,
  • Publications in academic journals, collections, professional or popular media,
  • Creative works: audiovisual projects, literary works, design projects, and other forms of expression,
  • Certificates, awards, school medals, and more.

📌 The University does not limit the format of your achievements — showcase your best work!

Motivation letter

A brief letter (up to 1 A4 page) explaining how your achievements and experience relate to EHU’s mission. The letter should be logical and well-argued — this is your opportunity to demonstrate why you deserve the grant.

📌 The University’s mission is stated in the EHU Strategy for 2019–2024, available in the “Documents” section of the website.

💡 If you win a grant, your first semester payment will not be lost — you can choose to have the amount refunded or applied toward future semesters if the grant support ends.

2️⃣ Students from the second semester onwards

Both the portfolio and academic ranking from the previous semester are taken into account.
📅 Application deadlines for students:

  • By September 1 – for the previous spring semester.
  • Within 6 working days after the winter session — for the previous fall semester.

📢 Important! Grants are awarded every semester, so you have the opportunity to regularly improve your portfolio and influence your tuition fees!
