In the welcoming addresses, Acting Rector Dr. Vilius Šadauskas and Chairperson of the Senate Associate Professor Dr. Liudmila Ulyashyna wished the first-year students success in their studies and academic achievements. On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, the vice – minister Jonas Survila addressed the students with a congratulatory speech, stressing the paramount importance of humanities education in the development of Europe. In addition, Ieva Kačinskaitė – Urbonienė, Deputy Chairperson of the Education and Science Committee of the Parlament of the Republic of Lithuania addressed the students with a congratulatory speech and wished a fruitful academic year.
Students were also greeted by members of the EHU department heads Professor Emeritus Ryhor Miniankou, Assoc. Professor Dr. Aliaksei Machnach, head of EHU’s School of Digital competencies Dr. Dmitry Samal, Manager of the Bachelor’s program “Business Economics” BISEB Tatiana Lisovskaya and president of EHU Students’ Union Ignatii Varenov.

The Ceremony continued with the cutting of the cake and the communication of the participants in a relaxed atmosphere.
In 2024, 302 freshman students of undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate study programs enrolled in EHU main programs, 99 students in informatics and 54 in the new economics program. The university will welcome students from over 20 countries in the upcoming academic year, 2024-2025.
