EHU stamement on the act of vandalism

The European Humanities University (EHU) experienced an act of vandalism today. A nationalist slogan appeared on the wall of the University, linked not so much to the university, but to the nationality of the majority of its students. EHU Rector Vilius Šadauskas invited both University students and teachers, the academic community, and the diaspora to refrain from reacting, claiming that this is exactly what malicious people working in other countries’ special services or simply provoking the nationalists of both countries to anger want.

“We will respond with a smile to the attempt to shake the societies of Lithuania and Belarus – said the rector. – It is not the first time that we have to experience both aggressive attacks by individual persons and well-organized provocations. We are united and strong and thank you for all the messages of support that the University and I personally have received.”

In the past, the University has also been wrongly associated with certain political forces and movements, but EHU has students and teachers from various countries studying and working, and the University has declared its loyalty to academic values and aspiration to justify the status and level of an EU-licensed University.
