Webinar ‘Inter-State Accountability for Violations of Human Rights’

The Centre of Constitutionalism and Human Rights of the European Humanities University in cooperation with the Barys Zvozskau Belarusian Human Rights House in the framework of the University Without Borders: Promoting Democratic Values and Dealing with Disinformation through Online Education’project hosts the webinar Inter-State Accountability for Violations of Human Rights, which will be centered on practical steps other states can take to hold the Belarusian state accountable for human rights violations.

The event aims to explore and highlight available inter-state mechanisms for addressing the situation in Belarus. The objective of the event is to raise awareness of individual experts/representatives of organizations and/or governmental agencies on the existing legal instruments available for States who are monitoring the crisis in Belarus and who are considering possibilities to proceed with legal remedies to stop further human rights violations that pose a threat to a сommon peace and security.

During the discussion, arguments pro et contra will be presented on the basis of the available legal instruments on inter-state accountability as well as on analyses of existing legal and diplomatic practice.

The event will take place via the Zoom platform on March 4, at 1:30-3:30 PM CET (Brussels) / 2:30-4:30 PM (Vilnius time) / 3:30-5:30 PM (Minsk time).
