EHU announces completion of the Internal Call for Heads of Academic Departments

European Humanities University (EHU) in Vilnius reports about the results of the Internal Call for Heads of Academic Departments. Starting from June 5 Professor Emeritus Ryhor Miniankou is appointed Head of the Academic Department of Social Sciences, Associate Professor Aliaksei Makhnach – Head of the Academic Department of Humanities and Arts.

An announcement of the Internal Call is the result of the April 27 decision of the EHU Governing Board to reorganize the academic and administrative structure of the University. In particular, prior 4 Academic Departments, 2 Academic Centers and Mediahub are merged into the Academic Department of Social Sciences and Academic Department of Humanities and Arts.

A total of 7 applications was considered for two positions of Heads of Academic Departments. On June 1 candidates were interviewed and assessed by the EHU Selection Committee composed of the University leadership, the academic community, external expert and student representatives.

On the basis of competitive selection of the submitted applications Professor Emeritus Ryhor Miniankou is appointed to the position of the Head of the Academic Department of Social Sciences and Associate Professor Aliaksei Makhnach is appointed to the position of the Head of the Academic Department of Humanities and Arts, effective June 5.

After the selection of candidates, Acting Rector Jørgen Jørgensen said: “I would like to thank all members of the academic community of EHU, who participated in the Internal Call. The submitted proposals on the further enhancement of EHU academic activity in terms of the new arrangement of the academic departments by the selected candidates allows EHU to respond to the expectations of donors and stakeholders, as well as to the fulfillment of the EHU mission. I wish Professor Emeritus Miniankou and Associate Professor Makhnach success in implementing these tasks and ensuring continuous enhancement of the environment for studies and research at our University”.

Professor Emeritus Miniankou holds a PhD in Philosophy from the Moscow State University since 1978. Up until now he served as Chairperson of the EHU Senate. Associate Professor Makhnach holds a PhD in History from the Belarusian State University since 2005 and served as Head of the EHU Core Curriculum Center.
