Ambassador Bajarūnas opened the lecture by outlining a framework of key features, possessed by the existing hybrid threats vis-à-vis family of the Trans-Atlantic community. On the example of Russian authorities’ attempts at interference into the strategic security areas of the European Union and Lithuania, Ambassador Bajarūnas underlined the important role of media propaganda being not less influential than military and paramilitary forces.
According to Ambassador Bajarūnas, effective resistance to hybrid threats can be achieved through better coordination between authorized institutions, raising public awareness of information warfare and propaganda as well as through suspension of broadcasting war and hatred-related propaganda. Within the framework of the meeting students and the Ambassador discussed the measures of protection from hybrid threats taken by NATO and the European Union, and also discussed the role of Belarusian authorities in the aforementioned equilibriums.
