EHU hosts annual Vilne Readings on Jewish Studies

On February 6,  European Humanities University (EHU) Department of Humanities and Arts hosted Vilne Readings on Jewish Studies, an annual seminar that brought together representatives of academic institutions from Lithuania, Belarus, Russia, and Latvia, including EHU faculty. Several peers from the Lithuanian Institute of History and Vilnius University also expressed their interest in the seminar, as well as EHU students.

During the seminar participants discussed the current state of Jewish studies and related academic publications in Eastern Europe. The issue of interpretation of the Jewish art and conversation of Jewish heritage in Central and Eastern Europe had a ranking place in the seminar agenda. Namely, EHU project-based experience in implementation of the cross-border projects in the field of actualization of Jewish heritage in Belarus, which has become possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

2019 issue of the “Tsaytshrift / צייַטשריפֿט” annual proceedings was presented during the seminar alongside the plans for publishing the journal in 2020.
