The 8th International Congress of Belarusian Studies will take place under the patronage of Vilnius City Municipality

Vilnius Mayor Dr. Remigijus Šimašius has signed an order for the Vilnius City Municipality to become a patron of the 8th International Congress of Belarusian Studies (ICBS), taking place on September 27-29. 

ICBS is the single largest Belarusian academic event in the world, both in terms of the number of participants and the diversity of research areas. More than 550 scholars representing 14 research fields are expected to take place in the 8th ICBS. 

The Congresses of 2011-2016 were held in Kaunas under the auspices of the Vytautas Magnus University. The 7th Congress of 2017 was held in Warsaw at the Collegium Civitas under the patronage of the President of the Capital City of Warsaw Prof. Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. Due to technical issues the 8th Congress was postponed to take place in September 2019, the main academic partner of the event is the European Humanities University.
