Professors of the Academic Department of Social Sciences on Research Platforms in Europe

On April 4-6, 2023, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Lawyers for the Supremacy of Law: Strengthening the Impact of Education on Justice, Restoring the Right to Protection in New Realities, and the Right to Association of Human Rights Lawyers” was held at the European Humanities University in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The Center for Constitutionalism and Human Rights, together with the International Partnership ILIA, the “Universities without Borders” Project, and the Belarusian House of Human Rights named after Boris Zvozskov, organized the conference attended by 60 participates to discuss new avenues for the commitment to legal empowerment of lawyers in the Eastern European region, including those who have been expelled from the legal profession in Belarus. Dr. Associate Professor Liudmila Ulyashyna led a session that involved representatives from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania, Lawyers for Lawyers Association, European Lawyers’ Association, and all participants to discuss issues related to the status of human rights lawyers and their professional associations within the new binding instrument “Convention of the Council of Europe on the Profession of Lawyers”. Additionally, a book titled “Right to Legal Counselling,” which was prepared by the EHU scientists and lawyers from Eastern European countries, was presented and distributed to the conference participants. The book was printed in 2022 in Vilnius under the auspice of the Centre of the Constitutionalism and Human Rights.

The 5th International Scientific and Practical Conference on the Theoretical and Practical Legal Studies of Financial Policy was held on April 6, 2023 at the war-torn State Tax University (Irpin, Kyiv Region, Ukraine). It focused on the conceptual approaches to the formation of Ukraine’s financial policy. EHU professors Liliana Tymchenko and Maryia Zharilovskaya offered their vision of the external aspects of its implementation.

On April 24-25, 2023 Kazimieras Simonavicius University hosted the 3rd International Scientific Conference “Challenges to Modern Law: An International Perspective”. Liliana Tymchenko and Aleksander Vashkevich, who proposed their own scientific-theoretical concepts in the field of jurisprudence, spoke about the challenges of the world order and the prospects for overcoming them in modern conditions.

As a continuation of the research in the field of enhance access to justice, Dr. Associate Professor Liudmila Ulyashyna presented her report “Normative Challenges in Legal Recognition of Human Rights Lawyers” at the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Scientific Research on Current Issues of Private and Public Law”, Kyiv, April 24, 2023 organised by the Ministry of Education and Science  of Ukraine and  the Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Law and International Relations.
