Prof. Aliaksandr Kalbaska takes part in the 25th General Conference of ICOM in Kyoto

On September 1-7, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of the European Humanities University (EHU) Prof. Aliaksandr Kalbaska took part in the 25th General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in Kyoto (Japan).

More than 4000 delegates from 111 countries took part the work of the General Conference that convenes every three years. Prof. Aliaksandr Kalbaska took part in the Conference as a member of the ICOM Belarus delegation. 

During the ICOM Council for University Museums and Collections session Prof. Kalbaska has presented the concept of EHU virtual museum in his paper “Virtual University Museums as an ‘Absolute Reality’”. His presentation covered EHU history, perspectives of the establishment of the virtual museum, search for potential partners for the creation of the technical platform.

Following questions were discussed during working meetings and sessions:

  • Creation and functioning of university museums;
  • Univeristy teaching with a focus on museum items ;
  • Prospects of cooperation with an Association of University Museums of Kyoto, University Museum of Technology in Chengdu (China), University Museums in Lisbon, Brno, Bologna, Stockholm, Liege, Tbilisi, Kazan, Cracow, Saint Petersburg, Helsinki.
