New Issue of the Topos Journal

We are happy to announce the publication of the first issue of the Journal for philosophy and cultural studies “Topos” in 2021. The topic of the new issue is “Voting over Contested Issues — Voted as a Contested Issue”.

The editors of the issue — Andreas Langenohl and Sophie Schmäing (Justus Liebig University Giessen). The issue is in the English language.

Research articles, collected in the issue, continue the interdisciplinary discussion about voting not only as part of the institutionalized political system but also as a social practice and a powerful lever of social imaginaries. The issue covers broad geography of the contemporary discourse of political voting — Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Luxembourg, USA, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Togo.

Among authors — Sophie Schmäing (Justus Liebig University Giessen), Renée Wagener (University of Luxembourg, Institute for History, Campus de Belval, Maison des Sciences Humaines), Ralf Jeremias (Justus Liebig University Giessen), Yanina Welp (Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy, Graduate Institute), Andreas Langenohl (Justus Liebig University Giessen), Julius Heise (Philipps-Universität Marburg), Valeria Korablyova (Charles University) and Dmitry Mukhin (Vologda Open Air Museum of Architecture and Ethnography).

An important part of the issue is the panel discussion “After Voting”, dedicated to Belarus. The participants of the discussion are Piotr Rudkouski (Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies), Prof. Tatiana Shchyttsova (European Humanities University), Andrei Yahorau (Center for European Transformation) и Thomas M. Bohn (Justus Liebig University Giessen).
