“From Peaceful Revolution to German Unity” Exhibition opened at EHU Campus

On November 11, an exhibition “From Peaceful Revolution to German Unity”, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall was unveiled at the European Humanities University Campus.

During the opening of the exhibition Member of the Governing Board of EHU Prof. Ludger Kühnhardt has shared insight with students, faculty, and staff of EHU regarding the transformational changes, taking place in Central and Eastern Europe in the late 1980s. Prof. Kühnhardt was accompanied by Governing Board member Dr. Megaklis Petmezas, President Prof. Anatoli Mikhailov, Rector Prof. Sergei Ignatov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Aliaksandr Kalbaska and Prof. Alexander Vashkevich of the EHU Department of Social Sciences over the importance of the Fall of the Berlin Wall to the European integration processes.

The exhibition, which includes 20 posters, highlights the events that occurred at that time and include, for example, the protests at the falsification of the East German elections, the movement of refugees and the mass protests that forced the government to open the borders on November 9, 1989. The exhibition explains, among other things, the German-German relations and the foreign policy choices involved in restoring German unity. The posters are prepared by the Federal Foundation for the Study of Communist Dictatorship in East Germany (GDR).
