Meeting with the Latvian Ambassador Solveiga Silkalna opens new prospects for regional cooperation

The Rector of the European Humanities University (EHU) emphasized the importance of expanding student admissions beyond democratically thinking Belarusian youth, highlighting prospective students from Ukraine, Poland, Georgia, and, notably, Latvia. This presents an attractive opportunity for the Belarusian diaspora residing in various countries, especially considering that the majority of EHU’s instruction is delivered in Russian.

Although EHU does not currently maintain exclusive partnerships with Latvian institutions, this meeting aimed to broaden existing pathways and establish new opportunities for cooperation, which had not been formalized previously.

The Ambassador of Latvia expressed particular interest in the language of instruction at EHU, as well as the university’s efforts to build academic ties with other universities in the region.
The discussion also touched on the role of alumni, with consideration given to the contributions of former students and potential forms of continued engagement with the university.
