During his stay, Konstantin gave guest lectures on international commercial law and international arbitration for undergraduates and doctoral students. Also, Konstantin Ivanov presented at the round table on the study of international law. Besides, he continued to discuss cooperation with the department on future scientific projects.
The university was founded on 23 May 1996 due to the merger of Akmola Civil Engineering Institute and Akmola Pedagogical Institute. It was named L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian University in honor of the idea of the Eurasian Union and Lev Gumilyov, a historian and ethnologist, one of the founders of the Eurasianism concept. As the result of the merger with the Academy of Diplomacy of the Ministry of International Relations of Kazakhstan in 2000, it was renamed L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian State University. In 2001, the university gained national status and was renamed L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
