Dr. Aliaksandr Kalbaska has been awarded the honorary title of “Professor Emeritus of EHU”

On July 18, 2023, by the decision of the EHU Senate, Prof. Aliaksandr Kalbaska has been honored with this prestigious title for his contributions to EHU and civil society in the fields of education, science, and cultural-enlightenment activities.

Prof. Kalbaska has been awarded the “For Labor Valor” medal and the EHU “Honorus” insignia (2007). In 2017, he was granted the honorary title of EHU “Lauditio Magnum” for his outstanding contributions to the development of liberal education. Prof. Kalbaska established the School of Museum Studies at EHU and has held positions such as Deputy Dean, Dean of the Faculty, and from 2012 to 2020, Vice-Rector of the European Humanities University. He has received prestigious scholarships and grants, including the Fulbright scholarship.

Aliaksandr Kalbaska has made a significant personal contribution to the development of EHU as a university that operates in accordance with European and global education standards. He actively integrates new forms of active learning into his practice. Teaching in three languages (Belarusian, English, and Russian), he creatively approaches the selection of methods and techniques for student activities and assessment of results. Aliaksandr Kalbaska has developed a series of courses for bachelor’s and master’s programs that are an integral part of EHU’s curriculum. In particular, as part of the OSUN program, Aliaksandr Kalbaska, together with Prof. Jeremy Adelman (Princeton University, USA), teaches the course “History of the World since 1300,” as stated in the conclusion of the Senate committee.
