The creators of  the “Common Ground” project and students of the program “Visual Design” of the European Humanities University have teamed to immerse themselves in the spirit of contemporary art at the House of Artists in Palanga, Lithuania.

“Common Ground” is an interdisciplinary project aimed at revealing identity transformations in times of current social and technological changes. The topics of the project are focused on social discourse – migration challenges, interactions between different cultures, ethnic minorities, mutual communication through artistic activities.

The Lithuanian Artists’ Union, in cooperation with the Toruń Center for Contemporary Art (project leader, Poland) and the Reykjavik organization Academy of Senses (partner, Iceland), is launching an international project Common Ground / ComG to discuss and update these issues through artistic means, thus contributing to positive socio-cultural change and the strengthening of tolerance. During the two years of the project, systematic cooperation between Polish, Icelandic and Lithuanian project participants, seminars, creative workshops, presentations of creative results are planned.

Introduction to the project took place from 20 to 26 September. A residency and creative workshops with students of the European Humanities University was organized in the Artists’ House in Palanga.

Curators of the EHU students group, Prof. Žydrutė Ridulytė and Assoc. Prof. Julia Titowa, asked the designers to offer their works on these hot topics, reflecting social, psychological and national changes.

So, we must find that common ground by celebrating the beautiful colors of fall in Palanga!
